| 748787 | 2009-02-18 23:45:00 | I thought it was to stop the pelicans from slipping over, with their wet feet and all. | Rob99 (151) | ||
| 748788 | 2009-02-18 23:52:00 | Nah! Pelicans have pretty good balance - especially when their beaks are full. I'll send you the bill... | johcar (6283) | ||
| 748789 | 2009-02-19 00:53:00 | You will note that the brown crap stuff was spotted up north,where as far as I know, pelicans using crossing have not been seen for some time,so I think the wet foot theory is a wild goose chase. | Cicero (40) | ||
| 748790 | 2009-02-19 05:41:00 | the brown crap is high traction chip which comes out of a special quarry somewhere. <rant> we had a bit of road works done near a family members place. first lot of seal latest one day. 2nd lot lasted one day, 3rd time they hot mixed it. its VERY expencive to do. incidentally they did some minor repairs just up the road from it, nice new base down and it was ripped up in minutes. the cause of all the damage to the base and new tarseal..... simply big trucks which i clocked at +100km/h in a 50km/h area. no one slowed down, all the seal on the high loading areas simply ripped up within hours of the road working guys leaving. so we had to put up with multiple roadworks and public had to pay for the highly exspencive hot mix sealing all because professionally drivers couldn't be bothered to obey the rules. </rant> |
