2009-02-23 06:43:00 | A laudable initial move. However one hand doesn't know what the other is doing, first we have: "including: "Xtra Broadband is about to be unleashed!", "unlimited data usage and all the internet you can handle" "Telecom to be prosecuted over "Go Large" computerworld.co.nz ...........and National: "National plans $1.5bn broadband spend-up" "The money would be used to drive the roll-out of a "fibre to the home" ultra-fast broadband network in New Zealand" www.nzherald.co.nz I suppose they think this would be used just for ultra fast large emails and surfing :)

2009-02-23 07:03:00 | Well, since Xtra can't handle broadband, maybe the solution is longband, which will naturally need to go faster to avoid being cut up when the taps in the internet pipes are being shut. | R2x1 (4628) | |
2009-02-23 08:44:00 | Well Im actually highly impressed he stepped in to postpone it and review it further. Good to see he appears to have his ear to the ground and know that its just a bad law. Yes, copyright holders need rights, but so do Internet users & the general public, businesses and service-providers alike! :)

2009-02-23 09:17:00 | Yes, copyright holders need rights, but so do Internet users & the general public, businesses and service-providers alike! :) But copyright holders do have rights. It has always been up to the copyright holder to protect their own intellectual property. Expecting ISPs to assist copyright holders to protect their properties is like passing a law to make the manufacturers of photocopiers responsible for policing copyright.

2009-02-23 09:43:00 | Its the same old story - as soon as there is some sort of copyright protection - someone will find a way to over come it. and around it starts again. | wainuitech (129) | |
2009-02-23 19:46:00 | Another reason i'm pleased I voted National Any politician that isn't in the Green or Maori Parties voted for the Copyright Bill.
