751445 2009-02-26 05:00:00 I recently had a 750 HDD stop dead on me. It was an AS Drive and one of the HDD's effected with Seagate's problems with their Thailand Firmware builds.

I decided to run their HDD checker over my other drives and found that 4 of the 5 of my ES drives were also among the effected models. I ran the firmware update on all of these today and all successfully updated and problems solved with those I hope. Since I paid a premium for the ES models I would not have expected that.

As far as the 750Gb AS model goes I tried to get another drive exactly the same so I can switch out the PCB and recover the data.

I ordered one off Ascent, then a couple of days go by and they tell me it is on back order, out of stock. canceled the order.

Tried Computer Lounge and they told me that they are not getting in any more Seagate Hard Drives in until the problem is solved.

C1 supplied one hopefully it will be here tomorrow and I can try a PCB swap and try for data recovery.

(And no pctek, it is not a question, but a statement:-) )

As jwil1 has already mentioned, the word you are looking for is "affected . "
