852087 2010-01-26 02:40:00 we have a.. 160gb? i think, Iomega drive at work. It seems fine, not especially fast, but have been using it for about a year, no trouble. I'd still look at WD or Seagate personally, though. inphinity (7274)
852088 2010-01-26 03:17:00 Try Warehouse Stationery. They have a Seagate 500gb external hard drive in current mailer for $99.00 leonidas5 (2306)

852090 2010-01-26 03:26:00 from the seagate site:

"Just the essentials.

Plug and play. Connect your USB cable and you’re ready to go. Capacities range from 250GB to 2TB.
On your desk or on the go."

852091 2010-01-26 03:36:00 the one you specified has to be plugged into mains. i want USB powered GameJunkie (72)
852092 2010-01-26 04:54:00 I am no expert but I would have thought an externally powered one would put less strain on your system. Especially if it's a laptop. Driftwood (5551)
852093 2010-01-26 05:00:00 not much good at a picnic though! KarameaDave (15222)
852094 2010-01-26 05:06:00 It'll probably run by power, / and have USB, whether you use a desktop or laptop. Or it may not work properly (if its not powered as well) Speedy Gonzales (78)

x2, the reason i want a usb powered one is for my laptop at university etc

at DSE they had a WD my passport hdd(500gb) for 148, but it was only availiable at two stores :(.

they had the newer model for $199. bit much for me at this point.
