| 851838 | 2010-01-25 09:16:00 | I'm interested to hear from anyone who is using / has used Slingshots Next Big Thing plans (esp the one with the free data between 1am and 7am). I'm looking at going on either the #2 or #3 package and am with Orcon at the moment. Are the speeds good on both normal surfing / download during 7am to 1am and what is the "free data" downloading time like? Thanks in advance. |

| 851839 | 2010-01-25 10:01:00 | Welcome to PF1 I use Slingshot's NExt Big Thing and have done so for the past 7 months approx. I have FS DL and all the home line features. Have had no hassles at all with the upgrade ( I was with SL previously anyway) Not sure what the DL times are like during the free period but as I'm asleep I don't really care! For the rest of the day, on ADSL2+, I am very happy with the speeds. Just did a Speedtest : DL 15700 kbps DL and 560 kbps UL Hope that helps. KP |

As there's now Big Time with Telecom, you're better off with Big Time if you want unlimited use, they actually do a decent job of QoS'ing their network rather than just a free-for-all like I remember Xnet used to be... Welcome to PressF1 :) |

Big Time is still a mixed bag, some people happy some people not. Also not supporting Telecom where ever possible is always nice. | Battleneter2 (9361) | ||
| 851842 | 2010-01-26 17:51:00 | Yeah you'd think that, but you could also apply that same logic and say "Xnet's Torrent plan is probably the better of the two", yet it's far from the truth ;) | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 851843 | 2010-01-26 20:53:00 | I downloaded a certain 720p TV program last night (1.09GB) on Big Time in less than an hour - this was between around 7 to 8pm - happy wit that. | wratterus (105) | ||
| 851844 | 2010-01-26 21:24:00 | I downloaded a certain 720p TV program last night (1.09GB) on Big Time in less than an hour - this was between around 7 to 8pm - happy wit that. Lucky man. My Big Time download speed dropped to appox 10kb/s last night. It all depends what area you are in, exchange overloaded where i live (?? ) I usually have to wait until Sat/Sunday morning/afternoon to get a resonable download speed - or set my downloads to autostart in off peak time. :groan: :groan: |

| 851845 | 2010-01-26 21:59:00 | Big Time seems very inconsistent, some users happy others leaving in droves. I would give Slingshot a try first, its more like standard unshaped connection during normal hours. Secondly I always favor not supporting Telecom where ever possible. | Battleneter2 (9361) | ||
| 851846 | 2010-01-26 23:55:00 | What's Orcon's average pingtest.net score vs. Slingshot. p.s Slingshot's customer support is the worst I've ever worked with. |
