| 750919 | 2009-02-24 23:41:00 | Uh...I was mocking skinheads, They have a few in ChCh. Its a bit rich this coming from Whanganui... At least we don't vote our right wing fascists into Council, unlike Whanganui voters. Oh wait, someone voted Side Show Bob into the ChCh mayoralty. |

Dux de Luxe at the Arts Centre is very popular though I think their micro brewery beers have gone off in recent years. Food's not bad there though. Best beer at the moment is at the Twisted Hop in Poplar Lane. English style real ales, but also beers available from micro breweries all over the country. No doubt if you are at a backpackers in the Square, you will find the Irish bar there - I believe it is very popular. The Arts Centre is worth a wander on the weekend. Food stalls, arts and crafts stuff, live music etc. The Academy Cinema on the Arts Centre site has good films (film festival type movies usually). If you want a walk, the Botanic Gardens are great. You can hire a canoe from the kiosk at Antigua Street and go for a paddle along the Avon through the Gardens as well. If you have access to a car, a trip around the Port Hills, or over to Akaroa is worth doing. Someone mentioned the tram - it does a circuit around the inner city, but I am told it is really expensive. |

| 750921 | 2009-02-24 23:53:00 | If you are a swimmer and like to swim in a municipal pool, the Centennial Pool is in the inner city beside the Avon River (the river itself is not recommended for swimming - too many broken bottles, duck poo, and dead bodies from time to time). If you like meeting young women, Manchester Street is very popular I believe... |

Sl*t street - was there last weekend, way overrated. :o Highly recommend the four aves on a saturday night. Excellent value for money, if you like seeing a lot of angry people yell at each other. |
