751097 2009-02-24 10:15:00 Hey, anyone tried the RC of NOD32 V4 (beta.eset.com)?
Didn't even realise there was a new version coming out.
Apparently it is being released on the 4th of March and it is a free upgrade for any existing users

751098 2009-02-24 18:27:00 Crikey, It's news to me...will try it out. More than happy with V3. I wonder if they've changed the firewall in SS at all. wratterus (105)
751099 2009-02-25 23:53:00 Just installed a trial version on A workshop PC- thankfully the interface hasn't changed - hate it when you get used to a change and they change again

Haven't had the time to do a "dig" but the obvious features that are new :

A new Security Warning (www.imagef1.net.nz) ---- Which happened to be These updates needed (www.imagef1.net.nz) -- One thing I think will be helpful - the Statistics View (www.imagef1.net.nz) - in a pie graph for all operations.

Speed wish -- NO lag what so ever, the system didn't even appear to slow down a bit from NO protection to ESS being operational - not like some other unmentionable Internet security and hopeless software :p

751101 2009-02-26 09:50:00 Norton got awarded top Security Suite in this month's NetGuide (again!!!). WTF? beeswax34 (63)
751102 2009-02-26 18:04:00 Nod 32 didn't even get a mention in this months PCw but I'm still more than happy with Nod not going to switch to any of their recommendations gary67 (56)
751103 2009-02-26 20:14:00 I don't know where the mags and Labs actually get their test results - they are a load of UTTER CRAP!. :angry

Classic example - yesterday- at a persons place, setting up a network - all 3 PC's had the latest fully up to date Norton Internet Security 2009 installed - saying the PC's were clean.

All 3 had mayor problems trying to connect to the wireless, firewalls set to allow - simply didn't work.

Turned off the wireless on the router - uninstalled Norton - installed Nod32 - instantly on ALL 3 PC's Nod picked up ACTIVE viruses, did scans, cleaned out the infections, THEN connected to the Wireless - updated Nod, rescanned - all worked fine.

The real funny part - while I was there the guy rang someone and I heard him say - do bother buying Nortons - the computer guy here at the moment has lot better software. :)

751104 2009-02-26 21:01:00 I have had similar results with Trend the other day.
Went out to a customer's place where they had a laptop and a desktop both running the latest Trend suite all up-to-date and all saying everything is good.
Desktop was running slow so I told them about NOD32 and they said go for it.
Removed Trend and installed NOD32 on both machines and both immediately came up with 3 virus warnings before NOD32 even updated to the latest virus defs!
Desktop is running much better now too

I love it when that happens - kind of give s a good example of the software working right away.

One comment the guy made was made me smile - " I like the way Nod warns you about an event / something happening - Not like Norton that you put your faith in and hope like hell its working"
