851241 2010-01-24 00:58:00 That depends on what you're trying to do with it - PDF files aren't anything like a standard word-processor document.

What sort of document are you wanting to edit, and what do you want to do with it?

If you can get your hands on the original document that the PDF was created from, you're far better off editing that.

Be aware that some pdf files can't be edited due to permissions set though.

You could possibly open the pdf file in a reader then Cntl A, Ctl C. Open Word or the like and Cntl V.

851243 2010-01-24 01:10:00 I thought that was the whole purpose of PDF files - they can't be edited or changed :)

Creating a PDF file is a complete different ball game.

851244 2010-01-24 01:14:00 I thought that was the whole purpose of PDF files - they can't be edited or changed :)Nope - you can edit them - but depending on what the content is, it can be an utter pain in the ass as it doesn't preserve a lot of the formatting information necessary to recreate the document afterwards, and whatever you're using to do the editing has to guess a lot of it.

The point of a PDF is to create a document that looks the same on every machine, no matter what you view it with. Unlike a word-processor document, PDF documents look the same everywhere.

851245 2010-01-24 01:17:00 You can change / edit them, if you have the right programs (which may not be free - but you probably wont be able to edit all of it), if you didnt create it. If its small, and you use office 07, retype it again then save it as PDF. Thats what I did once. And just kept the original. If I need to change anything, I'll just edit the original and save it as a PDF file again Speedy Gonzales (78)
851246 2010-01-24 01:26:00 Thanks to you ALL for your help. I now have some ideas of the possible problems and how to tackle them. Cheers. Pato (2463)
851247 2010-01-24 04:56:00 Free pdf to word will let you do it but and it's a big but it screws the formatting when you import to the word doc gary67 (56)
851248 2010-01-24 05:42:00 I create pdf files in Word 2007 and put a watermark on as well for a web site with prices.

I would give a link to an example but I'm not here to promote a site.

If changes are needed as to prices then I alter the original and put time and date in a footer.

Then create pdf and upload to site.
