And you suppose all the nublits desperate for a bit of advice/help are running the same configuration as you?

There is a bigger picture here, its got nothing to do with the residents being able to block the ads.

753095 2009-03-04 22:12:00 It is my advice. If they have a problem with ads, they should install an ad blocker.

If they don't run IE7 then they'll just have to install something else

I did just try the page with IE7Pro turned off, the ads are so big you can't even see the top of this thread, which is pretty stupid.

If it were me and I had just discovered the place I wouldn't even bother having a nosy, I'd just move onto a more user friendly forum.

Which is a shame as there are plenty of people willing to help on the tech forum and plenty of entertainment to be had on this one.

Maybe if nothing is done - like the blackout protest every one thats a regular should piss off for a couple of weeks and see how much " help" others then get.

The forum would die quick if there were questions and no one to answer them.

Bit like-- Helllloooo any body there.

Hi guys.
Minor deviation.
Running IE7 (Work computer not my choice). Downloaded and installed IE7 Pro and still getting adds. Have ticked the "Ad Blocker" box in preferences.

Would dearly love to get rid of those ads. Spoils what would otherwise be a neat site.

I can imagine a newbie who's first view of a site is ads and thinks where is the forum.
e.g. I told my son to go to the site. His first question when he got there was where is the forum?, it is all ads

753099 2009-03-05 01:58:00 In IE7Pro you'll need to add an extra filter to get rid of the ads on here:

*adbureau.net* and pagead2.googlesyndication.com as a URL Block filter (maybe also openads.zeads.com as well)

It's easy to do in IE7Pro. When you find an ad which isn't already blocked, go to the properties (or look in source) and find the website it comes from. Then using the URL Block filter just add the domain name of the website with * on each end as a wildcard to block the whole thing.

Sometimes you'll get left with a blank space where the ad was, so you might need to change or also add a div/table/frame/image filter for the same URL as well
