| 752936 | 2009-03-03 03:25:00 | an cheap HDMI Cable and an expensive HDMI Cable. I got this cheap Transonic player from the warehouse, (I cant afford a better player at the moment) They included an HDMI cable, the picture is 10.000 times better then it was and my TV can only go up to 1080i. Can anyone explain the difference in cables? Can you recommend a surtain cable, feedback welcome! | mark1978 (13845) | ||

| 752938 | 2009-03-03 03:32:00 | Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the expensive ones might be slightly better over a long (10 metres +) distance?? They seem to resist signal degradation better IIRC? | nofam (9009) | ||
| 752939 | 2009-03-03 03:33:00 | Can anyone explain the difference in cables? Greed. And while it maybe myth I have heard of an experiment where they transferred the signal across a piece of wet string and got an image as good as a cable. |

The only time a better/more expensive cable would be better is if you go over about 5M. Even then a $60 HDMI cable still works. HDMI is a digital signal so the signal either gets there or it doesn't. Not like an analogue cable where the better the cable the better the signal. It would be like some company making $400 USB cables so that your print job comes out so much clearer :D I'm surprised no one ever did that actually. |

| 752941 | 2009-03-03 03:48:00 | I got sucked into a deal when I bought this LCD tv, the lady offered me a special scart cable to improve the sky signal, and it worked, the signal was way better then the cable that was delivered with the Sky-Box... | mark1978 (13845) | ||
| 752942 | 2009-03-03 03:51:00 | I'm using a $15 cable on this. Nothing wrong with it | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 752943 | 2009-03-03 04:00:00 | There's no difference. Believe it or not, some companies even make $1499 power leads, claiming they improve audio quality because fluctuations from the power outlet can affect sound. A fool and his money are easily parted. |

There is no difference, and I think this is something the commerce commission should be looking at, as so many of these retailers will try to sell you something that they claim is better, but provides no advantage. |

| 752945 | 2009-03-03 04:15:00 | I remember working for an audio reseller who made some of the cables. He also had a 398% mark up on needles for a record player. I could post two sites but I will not at this time. |
