Also for all you mac users out there, we are a PC using household, and we are looking at going wireless will this create an issue for the mac if I want it to join the network.

and can macs take wireless cars as the airport thingies look a bit dear for this antique

853654 2010-01-30 09:31:00 You can get them at pharmacies and places that have a big selection of batteries.
Be best if you take the PRAM battery out and take it with you to show them.
Yes there are USB wireless cards out there that work in macs.
There should be no issue having pcs and macs running wireless, I am right now.
Oh yeah they are a bit dear the old airport cards

853657 2010-01-30 23:20:00 the airport cards that emacs use are the old kind plod. Very expensive not many places sell them. Saw one on trademe a while ago. But it would be best to get a usb one cause the old airport cards were 802.11b nedkelly (9059)

853659 2010-01-31 09:15:00 Oh yeah looks like all emacs made after 2003 use extremes. One thing I have never done (or needed to do) install a wireless card in an emac.
Sorry Nigel looks like I was wrong about the airport card.

853660 2010-01-31 12:37:00 You just need it to be 3.6v Lithium 1/2(Half) AA size, nipple terminal just like normal AA cells (make sure it's not lead\tag\lug etc terminal)

Jaycar sells them (Cat. no. sb1770), so does Echo Electronics (Glen Eden) don't know where you live though.

I'm sure there are other places, just make sure it adheres to those specifications. And make sure you put it in around the right way!
