852761 2010-01-28 00:11:00 turn off UAC GameJunkie (72)
852762 2010-01-28 00:12:00 Turn Off UAC - go into User accounts, Change User account control settings - But remember even XP asks questions when installing etc. ( always has) wainuitech (129)
852763 2010-01-28 00:58:00 keep in mind that it is UAC that keeps you safe.
if a virus tries to install when your not looking then you get the UAC popup.

you will see it alot in the first few days as you install lots of stuff.
once you have your computer work you will be installing less stuff and see the UAC less.

852764 2010-01-28 01:00:00 Why would a virus / trojan tell you if its going to run? If its going to, it will. It wont ask for permission  There would be no point in having AV programs, if windows told you. I've turned UAC off for the same reason (its annoying) Speedy Gonzales (78)
852765 2010-01-28 01:28:00 It's not the program asking, it's Windows.
It detects a process attempting potentially dangerous activity (like writing to system directories / reg keys) that it decides require elevated rights, and asks for permission.

Having a password on your email or a lock on your door is annoying too, but it's there for a reason.
