I used to be almost fanatical about top-loaders. But now I've seen the light and front loaders are the way to go.

They're slightly less efficient than top loaders, but...

They use less power and water
They're gentler on the garments
They have the benefit of having a top surface
They amuse the cat
They're quieter
They require less detergent

So all in all they're less expensive to run and occupy less space.

;)

(edit) I've had my Simpson for about 11 years - it's still going strong!

You say they are inefficient,then go on to say how efficient they are?
I have a Fisher and P Intuitive and it is brilliant.
