This is a good thread, cheers for the info, i always thought you pay for quality but in this case it may be different.

Actually my sky at home is ghosting a bit, must change the crappy sky cable for a new scart onoe to see if it improves

752958 2009-03-04 03:06:00 that single cable cost more than my entire 5.1 surround sound speakers (Logitech z5500d).

I know of one guy who bought a $700 hdmi cable as part of his home theatre package. He should have just got a $20 PS3 job and spend the savings on the projector. With an additional $680 spent on the project, it would be enough to get the next grade up of projector. The quality of a higher resolution projector would exceed image quality of any projector with a $700 HDMI cable.

Monster cable are worse than Bose.

Kinda contrary to the noble metal principle and I've never heard of it. Gold plating is used to eliminate such effects. You should also bear in mind that anything less than 12 carat gold is usually a gold-nickel alloy anyway.

752961 2009-03-04 09:51:00 Well I'm going to buck the trend and say there is a difference. But wait, the difference I can tell is not the actual cable being better but the wrapping it is in. Some of the cheaper cables look like the sheaths(is that the right word) they use would easy crimp and bend if bashed around, this isn't any justification for the price difference. I have 5 HDMI cables in use and all of them have been cheap ones with no problems. plod (107)
752962 2009-03-04 10:36:00 When I used to work for DSE.

We had a salesperson serving a customer and he asked for cheap AV cables, she tried "up selling" him to the titanium coated set for and extra $10.00.

His Response : "Iam going to prison Iam not that worried about the quality"

had all the other sales reps in stitches..
