I did some work at the largest ciggie company in NZ many many years ago and the annual excise taxes collected from tobacco sales are enough to fund half a dozen or more regional hospitals. I suspect the same goes for taxes on alcohol. But that said, nothing condones alcohol-related accidents, mayhem and domestic violence resulting from misuse of alcohol. How about legalising cannabis and taxing the bejesus out of it - is that an option? Andrew |

There is a small free hospital in Ch Ch,I have spoken to the people who run it,I asked if it was possible to improve the public sector,they said yes,but it is not going to happen,all bureaucrats are safely ensconced. |

To prop up our health system we should tax alcohol in a similar manner to tobacco. This will help the lack of money and decrease the strain on resources. |

I have been making my own rum, when I perfect the recipe and find some way to make rum that isnt sickly sweet I wont have to buy it. I would love to be able to make my own vodka but I dont think I could ever get the quality good enough. 26000 vodka and V or red bull mix man its good. The smoker admissions come in quietly to die, the clowns who cant hold their piss covered in blood are a different story |

But if we are talking about banning the drains on our hospitals, we should also include runners, drivers, and the elderly. Because lets face it, no point on giving medical treatment to old people that haven't long to live anyway. I object to treating infants since they are so easily replaced.
