| 852238 | 2010-01-26 19:20:00 | I have a client who has installed AVG 9 free on her vista machine. When prompted to restart she did and now it is in a reboot loop. It wont start in normal or safe mode. There is not enough time to logon and get rid of anything. As you would expect... There are no restore points and windows repair claims there is nothing wrong. I'm due to just back up her data and reinstall, anyone have any clever ideas before I do that? |

| 852239 | 2010-01-26 19:43:00 | Was V9 installed without updating it. Or did it pick up any system files as trojans? In V8 I think it was, AVG picked up user32.dll as a trojan. And if you deleted it, what you posted will happen. Only thing to try, go to the AVG forum, and see if the prob is there. If it isnt post your prob there. Try booting from a Vista DVD/ repiar my computer, and load up system restore from that. You can also try rebuilding the Boot loader heres how (support.microsoft.com) |

That woudld be far to easy. It does boot to the logon screen, then reboots. Hmmmmm Had an idea... Nope disabling restart on error has no effect. |

| 852243 | 2010-01-26 21:09:00 | Nope, should only need to do that if vista will not boot at all. If it boots to the logon screen then the mbr, boot sector and boot manager are all fine. Have tracked it down to possibly being a lot more infected than client was willing to admit to. Eset is currently doing its thing in the workshop. |
