1448790 2018-04-23 23:09:00 Is it true that itune cards purchased in New Zealand may only be used for New Zealand accounts?

My grandson had bought one here then found it couldn't be used with his Australian account. It was only when he returned it that one of the younger staff members at the supermarket told him (and the rest of the staff) that it could only be used with a New Zealand account. They did refund his money.

I was going to purchase one for someone from USA but don't want to go ahead if that is the case.

Card or code is from a different country or region

App Store & iTunes Gift Cards and Apple Music Gift Cards are specific to your country or region. If you're trying to redeem an App Store & iTunes Gift Card or Apple Music Gift Card that was purchased in a different country or region, make sure that you're redeeming it in the iTunes Store for the same country or region. You can't redeem cards outside of the country or region of purchase. For example, an App Store & iTunes Gift Card purchased in France can't be redeemed in an iTunes Store in the U.S.
When redeeming Apple Music Gift Cards, make sure to redeem the cards in the iTunes Store for the same country or region. You can't change your country or region while you have an active membership.

There's a new phone scam going round where they want itune card codes, they must be able to use them somehow assuming they're not locals.

Thank for that, Beav. I had a feeling that would be the case. I haven't had one of those phone scams regarding the card codes (although we seem to be on their phone scam list for every other scheme, they never seem to give up) but I did read somewhere that some people have been trying to use itunes cards for other things.
