1447031 2018-03-05 09:21:00 Defrag has not been of much use for many years, never mind windows 10. For a start modern hard drives are much faster and have better seek times. Next windows 7 onwards is pretty good at cleaning up and defragging in the background during idle time. And finally if you actually look at what files are fragmented when you run it you will see it's mostly temp files and other unimportant stuff. That's not to say it does nothing, just that you are unlikely to notice a difference. That's my opinion anyway, some will disagree. Might improve boot times for a day or three.

Also if you have an SSD do not Defrag it.

Regardless, unless you have a 10 year old hard drive , Fat32 and are living in 1998 , defrag is a waste of time :)

Also, defrag is very very bad if your hard drive has got issues you dont know about

1447033 2018-03-06 02:30:00 And NEVER defrag a solid state drive! mzee (3324)
1447034 2018-03-06 02:33:00 You could but why? Unless it's really thrashing it's kind of pointless. piroska (17583)
