1446872 2018-02-27 22:21:00 I have a USB 3 16GB flash drive I was hoping to write a windows 10 image to, but it is not showing up in explorer.
Shows in disk management & device manager.
Tried it on several systems with same results.
It had a previous version of windows on it which had installed ok on another system.
I am thinking it might be stuffed.
Any other way to confirm that?

1446873 2018-02-28 00:06:00 what does disk management say about its status?

use disk manger to wipe & format it

or even better , diskpart : list disk, slelect disk x, clean

1446874 2018-02-28 00:17:00 In disk management it shows the same as the empty DVD drive, "No Media"
All you can do with it there, is change drive letters & check properties.

1446875 2018-02-28 00:41:00 Try a partition manager like Aomei, it's a bit better than windows in built tools www.disk-partition.com

I've also had some success using linux/gparted to reformat flash drives that windows wouldn't read. In my case though it's usually because I've tried out some linux distro on the flash drive and windows doesn't believe flash drives can have multiple partitions it seems.

1446876 2018-02-28 01:02:00 Did it have it's software included or for it to be downloaded to install on the pc? Doing so may help... kahawai chaser (3545)

Thanks, will do.
Actually tried to get gparted this morning but couldn't get on the site, or at least Edge couldn't.

No it's one I downloaded recently from MS.
It's actually the very version I needed for this job.

Gparted is included in the live image for Ubuntu or MINT so I usually just boot from one of those to use it.
Neither of them install it by default if you install linux, but it's easily added from the package manager in that case.

1446880 2018-02-28 03:58:00 Well AOMEI didn't find it.
Just trying Linux now.

1446881 2018-02-28 04:17:00 Pretty much the same in Linux Mint.
You can see it in disks, but cant access it.
Gparted doesn't see it at all.
I does make a chirp when you plug it in though.
In all tests I have also tried a known good USB & it has shown up as it should.
So my conclusion is "Stuffed"
