1446594 2018-02-24 00:20:00 Hello all

My current Gaming Machine is getting on a bit so I want to update it and cycle it into my media server

PBtech have a good sale and finance deal on at mo. and I only need a box (no screen etc) - I knew what I was doing 10 years ago but now not so much.

Could I have any recommendations please?

Thanks!

Baz

1446595 2018-02-24 01:28:00 What games, what resolution, what budget? you are not giving us much to go on.
Toms hardware has a regular article on best CPU for the money and best GPU for the money for gamers, it's a good place to start. The also have hierachy charts so you can compare.

For a short version IMHO get an i5 8 series, 16GB of RAM, and the best GPU you can afford - a GTX 1060 6GB or RX580 would be my entry level cards. If that doesn't break the budget look at SSD's and i7s.
Beware of pre - built "gaming" rigs that don't have at least a GTX 1060 or better, you will be dissapointed.

1446596 2018-03-01 07:59:00 I'll second dugimodo's thoughts, though if you're on a _real_ budget, you can get the 1050Ti (It won't do all games at full 1080P though so try for a 3GB 1060 at least). Skimp a bit on the RAM if you need, 4GB is the minimum these days if you're content to close down most extra apps while you game, and 8GB being generally sufficient for entry-level gaming :) Chilling_Silence (9)

Hello there

Thanks for your help on an earlier post about a PC.

I have put together a new Gaming PC using your advice - www.pbtech.co.nz

Can I be super cheeky and ask you to have a look at the build I have before I buy.

Thanks in advance

Barry
