1446892 2018-03-01 07:19:00 When it shows up as No Media, that's normally means it dead or dying.

USB sticks have a usb controller chip, basically it does the reading and writing (like a cdrom drive), the RAM on the stick is the media (like a cd). The controller can be fine and still be detected, but if the media itself can't be detected by the controller, its a good sign its dead.

If the USB never shows up, then it could be the controller.

Now, by fluke, you maybe able to get it to show up, could be a loose contact, etc. Heat it up and push the chip down. Worth a shot if you're just going to bin it and only need something off it.

All those partition tools did all they can but if theres no media seen, they only can see the controller, the media is needed to be able to perform any operation like formatting, etc. It just doesn't exist in this case.

yep, that
For the sake of $15 , its not worth the effort if you still cant get it to work after all the above recommendations to try & fix.

Stay away from lesser known brands, and trademe, ebay sellers

1446894 2018-03-02 23:07:00 I have a Transcend 32GB Mini USB to host Linux on my HPG3 Stream with a eMMc drive which is allergic to FatDog64. I wanted to re-format it to ext4 so I moved the Transcend firmware files to another drive for safekeeping. All is well. mzee (3324)
