755831 2009-03-12 06:23:00 The National government has apparently come up with a nine day fortnight.

As far as I know a week is composed of seven days and a fortnight is composed of two weeks.

Does this mean that retailers can only open 9 days out of 14?

As far as I can figure the Government only works from Monday to Friday. Saturdays and Sundays should therefore be deleted?

I worked six days per week being Monday to Sunday but Saturday was a rostered day off. So I was working a 12 day fortnight.

755832 2009-03-12 06:33:00 Doesn't apply to retailers.

And I think you won't find much belief in the idea that the Government works...

:D

I think the working week should be Saturday and Sunday (since the weather is usually so crap then anyway) and the weekend should be Monday to Friday.... Everyone is paid exactly as they are in the current setup...

755833 2009-03-12 06:52:00 But johcar. Does not McDonalds have more than 100 employees.

Yep. Franchise operation as a retailer and so therefore no one McDonalds would have over 100 employees..

The previous post was made very much tongue in cheek.

Personally I would cancel Mondays and Fridays only because on those days some people seem to get sick for some reason. Perhaps we should go for a four day weekend. Perhaps we should only go to work on whatever day we get paid so we can see the boss and ask for a pay rise.

Once again very much tongue in cheek.

I believe the deal is for manufacturers only...

I visited the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee many years ago - one thing they told us on the tour was that they always knew which day they would always get a 100% attendance of staff: payday, because on that day they also handed out a bottle of their product to each staff member!!!

755837 2009-03-12 08:03:00 Yes Sweep, you have to change your calendar.

Let us know how you get on.

755838 2009-03-12 09:15:00 Definitely change your calendar. Those fluffy lambs ganbolling about the pages were cute at the time, but we must move on. Also, lets face it, although nowhere near worn out, a 1987 calendar is just so last-century ;) R2x1 (4628)
755839 2009-03-12 22:31:00 Well perhaps I should go back to the Roman calendar where the year started on the first of March and that way I'd just be getting over the new year.:crying Sweep (90)
755840 2009-03-13 03:14:00 However, beware the Ides of March when resurrecting old customs. R2x1 (4628)
