854626 2010-02-02 18:56:00 I have a folder full of word documents that I print often.

In recent times, when I print these, they do not fill the whole page, even though they do just that on the screen. These are the same documents that have printed quite happily for over four years. Typically the printer will condense the documents down to about one quarter of the page - usually the lower left quarter of the paper, although there is some variation to this. But they are always scaled down.

If I copy the content of the document and paste it into a new, blank word document, it will print just fine. From which I suspect that the files are at fault, not the printer...

I have checked the page set-up etc etc but can find no fault with these. Altering settings like scaling in the print requester box does not make any difference.

Any ideas please? All suggestions gratefully received.

Ta.

854627 2010-02-02 21:29:00 OK stop looking all you lot! Turns out the printer had changed its default setting to "landscape" print instead of "portrait". That's about the only setting I hadn't fiddled with. God knows why it decided to change...

Any ideas how to make "portrait" the default?

854628 2010-02-02 22:51:00 Open a document, blank or otherwise, doesn't matter.
Select Page setup and select potrait.
Now down the bottom is a click button called DEFAULT.
Click it.
