854021 2010-01-31 22:21:00 My computer is crashing quite often since a few weeks.Right in the middle of a CD burning process it starts booting.Or just like that when I visit the internet, without any special reason.Or sometimes when I start it,the very first picture in the booting process comes up,saying"press DEL to enter setup",but this picture is frozen and pressing DEL or any other key shows no reaction. Also restart does not work.Only disconnecting the power for a while brings it up to the same level with no reaction or sometimes it does finish the boot process and then it works fine(until the next crash).
Its a XP 1.3GHz,SP2,Bios AwardInt. 6.00PG from 2002,system model MS-6378.
Who can help ?

854022 2010-01-31 22:34:00 Could be overheating. Have you checked the inside of the case for dust buildup?

Also the CMOS battery may need replacing.

854025 2010-02-01 00:21:00 Will it boot into safe mode, or safe mode / networking?? Reboot press/hold F8 down then select one of these. If it does, post a hijackthis log. Its below. Install then run it. Then click on scan the system and save a log. Copy and paste the log here Speedy Gonzales (78)
854026 2010-02-01 00:23:00 Well you will need to turn off autorestart in XP then perhaps you will get a bluescreen.

Control panel > system > startup

854028 2010-02-01 09:41:00 I would update IE for starters. Since 6 will be dead / no longer supported.

You can tick these then tick fix checked

Close browsers

If this version of Avira includes a firewall, uninstall it or zonealarm. You should only have 1 firewall installed

Is this an AMD or Intel system? Is this computer up to date?

854029 2010-02-01 10:07:00 That battery voltage is low.
I would replace it.

854030 2010-02-01 10:18:00 Have you opened the case and checked fans, heatsink etc for dust? Sweep (90)
