853906 2010-01-31 06:41:00 Hi Guys

I have a desktop with XP and a Dynalink RTA 1025W wireless router.

Then I have a Compac Laptop with Vista.

They used to run fine on my home network.

Then I had a few problems and now the laptop won't connect to the network using wireless, but if I use an ethernet cable it works fine.

When I go into my Laptops Control Panel it says that
"The settings on this computer for the network do not match the requirement of the network"

I have been into the routers software and it looks OK.

Any suggestions ?

853907 2010-01-31 06:46:00 Hiya Digby, what did you mean "Then I had a few problems".

I just noticed that the error message posted in this thread is not accurate. Perhaps you can try pressing "Ctrl + C" when the message pops up and "Ctrl + V" into the post so that 1) it saves you trouble of writing directly and 2) it is the correct one? Just a suggestion there.

This page might be of help: forums.techguy.org

Edit: If you have googled up for possible solutions, could you please tell us how have they gone so far?

Cheers :)

853909 2010-01-31 07:37:00 The settings on this computer for the network do not match the requirement of the network" As per the article speedy linked -- that usually happens when you have a network name and the password doesn't match.

Example: lets say you call the network "home" password -123456

if you go to another location or use another router, and its called Home, but the password is abcde then while Home is the correct name the laptop is trying to locate, the password is wrong.

Delete the connection "Home" in the laptops wireless Connection settings and reconnect. This link gives pictures (www.home-network-help.com)

Got It going.

Thanks again.
