surely you don't believe in the "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about" theory.
Look where it got David Bain:eek:.

755769 2009-03-13 02:36:00 Why would they want to search peoples PCs anyway? If they have suspicions, they can get a warrant and do it locally instead of hacking like the people they want to catch. sammo450 (13626)

If you haven't broken any laws then you should be very worried.

Your right to privacy should be held sacred, Not cast side as worthless so the governments can spy on its people.

When they go and remove the known criminals from our society (here is a hint, A lot of them wear patches, And the rest have been to court a dozen times) then they can start looking at the harder targets.

And at no time do they need any access to any law abiding persons private matters.

Not that I bothered to read the link.

I think they should have to have permission and a legally signed document before they can do any of their dirty snooping.

"they aim to give police the right to apply for covert search warrants from the Supreme Court"

You confuse me sometimes.

Well dofus - a blanket law which states that they can search any computer at their will is completly differenet to the police having to obtain a search warrant for a particular person's computer.

Anyone with an IQ greater than a vegetable would've seen that this was what I was getting at...

755773 2009-03-14 10:11:00 Unfortunately, if such access to the computer files of citizens by the Police becomes acceptable, when the individuals concerned that have not been charged of an offence, or at least handed a duly authorised search warrant, then it is only a matter of time before it will be abused.
