754920 2009-03-09 12:20:00 The clock issue in the Bain trial was very important as I remember, the evidence hinged on the accuracy of the computer clock which was taken as infallible but it was probably Win 95 or 98 I think and as far as I remember is not synchronized to an atomic clock on the internet. zqwerty (97)

You may suspect Sweep posted (or not) five times in a row - but proving it is a different matter.

Atomically, it is now 6.19am.

You cannot, however, prove that because the PC World clock is out by 8 minutes (+-) so therefore there is no accurate evidence proving this.

And I don't know what Dean is on about, it's 8:44am.

754924 2009-03-10 04:42:00 It wasn't Win95 or 98 as the event happened in 1994 so the prosecution case relying on a computer clock for precision and accurate time keeping is ridiculous as one cannot be certain it was set correctly in the first place. zqwerty (97)
754925 2009-03-10 05:37:00 It may have been a DOS box. Or a Win 3.xx.

Having looked at the news tonight a Detective Senior Sergeant seems to have difficulty remembering the events on that day too.

the murders happened in 1994, so the computer would have been DOS + win3.1x

the clock would have been set by hand, and maby never checked.

back in 1994 it was common to wind back the computer clock and get a few more week out of a trial copy......

the computer clock may have been out by days.....

I can remember thinking that at the time - certainly my pc clock was anything but accurate then...
