854500 2010-02-05 07:49:00 Hi Speedy
Sorry for the delay - My SHMBO of 54 years has just had a knee op.
I guess my best ever day was the day I married her.
My worst days have been this week seeing her in immense pain and not able to do anything to help her.
So I have been distracted .
Now I find myself not able to send you a HiJack log. I ran it OK and I have it available but trying to attach it to this reply I have found impossible. Well impossible for me.
I am obviously doing something wrong but what?
I feel sure I have used this HiJack thing before and didn't have problems.
Tom

854501 2010-02-05 07:56:00 Copy and paste it. Don't attach it Speedy Gonzales (78)
854502 2010-02-05 09:02:00 You haven't said what the OS is, but try what it says at this site HERE (dll.downloadatoz.com) ( scroll down the page to the instructions) taking any program out of the startup wont fix it, its side stepping the problem.

If that doesn't work, go here and download (www.dll-files.com) the missing .dll file, extract it and dump it into the C:\Windows\system32 folder. Agree to over write if it asks.

854504 2010-02-05 21:39:00 This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found
Reinstalling the application may solve this problem. From your original question -- Posted an answer in #13 -- Replace the missing file - should fix it.

Is cd creator 5 up to date? Because its not compatible with XP, otherwise

Info here (support.microsoft.com). You havent been getting these errors have you ? (support.microsoft.com)

What browser are you using? If youre using IE6, I would update it. Since Google and MS will be dropping support for it soon. I would also update to SP3, if this isnt an AMD system

We it was hard.

I'm afraid I was out of my depth and really didn't understand what was wanted. I could have done with you peering over my shoulder.

I tried what you recomended and got the missing dll file down and installed where you said it should be. I have the file in a lot of places on my computer so I was a bit puzzled why Windows seemed unable to find it.
I also tried my Registry Mechanic which is so old it is not supported any longer. So I switched to RegistryBooster (actually bought it !!) as the price seemed reasonable - it promised my sort of problem would be solved and they included at no cost System Tweater.

Well it didn't make any difference to my problem and when I tried System Tweaker it crashed and refused to run!

I was desperate by this time.
So I tried googling my problem and amazingly found somebody with the same problem and same name ( Tom ) asking advice and getting it.
It turns out that photogallery is part of the HP printer program and that program doesn't mention it even in the help files.
I use a HP printer so I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. Had some problems - in fact I did it about three times before it worked OK but the problem is solved. For now anyway.
Thanks chaps for the help - it did help keep me going.

Speedy you've lost me again.
I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by
Teamviewer
ID
pw

I have already managed to cure the problem I was having and need no more help.
But I worry now I may have left something in place causing problems to you. Can you be more specific?

854509 2010-02-12 11:06:00 Teamviewer is a remote desktop/support program allowing another computer to access yours and guide you or actually control your computer.
When you download and run the client program file (Quick Support), it will give you a identification number (ID) and password (pw) allowing the other computer (running the host program (Full Version)) to connect to yours (you'd need to tell him (phone, email or whatever)).
