853946 2010-01-31 18:53:00 Hey all,

If you remember back a little you might have read my thread on my computer having no display .

If not, basically what happened was, My graphics card fan wasn't spinning and there was no display on the monitor .

Anyway, I brought a new graphics card (5870) it arrived this morning . I plugged it all in, and started it up .

First thing I saw was the fan spinning, which was good .

Second thing I saw, nothing was on the monitor display . I double checked all the cords, everything was in .

So does this mean it's the motherboard? Or possibly the CPU?

853947 2010-01-31 19:13:00 You got the extra power connector plugged in to the card, if it needs it?
What mobo do you have?

Nothing on the monitor? It's LED is green or orange?
DOes it say no signal or anything? Tried this with another monitor?

Also what PSU do you have, inc brand.

The monitor says no signal if I unplug it first from power, then plug it back in. There is a orange light on the monitor.

The monitor also works on two other laptops.

PSU is

Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus, 550W

853951 2010-01-31 20:20:00 Well after googling for the last 2 hours, I'm pretty sure it's not my CPU. I removed the heatsink and it heated up rather fast.

I'm starting to lean to the mobo now...

853952 2010-01-31 22:11:00 Or RAM. What CPU was it? I would never remove the heatsink. qazwsxokmijn (102)
853953 2010-01-31 22:28:00 I just read through your previous thread re this problem.
You don't seem to be getting anywhere.
You may be better to take the box to a tech & get it sorted.

99 . 999999% of the time it's NEVER the CPU .

Nor does removing your HSF prove anything about the CPU other than it's lifespan just got a wee bit shorter now .
