On the weekend SWMBO went looking for some stuff (a mop or something), and saw this ad - apparently its been on TV as well . Its a NZ company that looks into Tax - you may be able to get a refund from previous taxs that you dont even know about, going back 5 years . Q . Is TaxRefunds . co . nz Ltd part of the IRD? A . No, we are not . We are independent IRD approved tax agents working for you, not the IRD . We are a private Limited Liability company, registered with the Companies Office of New Zealand, and certified for e-filing by the IRD . Our online and 0800 help centre is staffed by New Zealanders living and working in Oamaru . Our CEO is a registered Chartered Accountant and the company's trust account is administered and overseen by McKenzie Craik Chartered Accountants, members of NZICA . Now some are going to say "do it your self", its a load of rubbish ya de ya . They say if you are due you receive your refund within15 working days . Have a look at "How does it work" on their site. Now some are going to say "do it your self", its a load of rubbish ya de ya. You can easily do it yourself on the IRD website and go back 5 years. :) First apply for a summary of earnings (www.ird.govt.nz). Once you get that mailed to you, work out using their online calculator if you are owed a refund. If you are owed money, only then request a personal tax summary (www.ird.govt.nz) for that specific year. Obviously you do not want to request one from a year that you know you owe money on. Easy as, and no commission taken out of your refunds.	Jen (38)

757375	2009-03-18 08:56:00	Yea I tried that a few months ago and got nothing :( If you owe tax to the IRD you can bet your life they will catch up with you eventually :xmouth: I remember about 10 years ago I got a call from the IRD and they said that I had got a refund 4 years ealier when in fact I should have paid so I ended up having to pay back the refund plus what I actually owed them :horrified	CYaBro (73)

757377	2009-03-18 09:28:00	I am sceptical enough (who? moi;)) to suspect there was method in IRD's madness doing away with the 'everyone must put in a tax return'. Wainuitech, darned right in thinking that many are too lazy to work it out. Maybe that's a bit harsh, in lots of cases they just don't have the confidence or the know-how to do it. Some freeze at the thought of completing the most simple of forms. To many it would be well worth the commission.	Marnie (4574)
757378	2009-03-18 18:30:00	Its been around for ages. My father tried it. It dragged on and on, with them not getting back to him, and him emailing etc. In the end he did it himself and got his refund. The take a cut, the also promote accounting services to you once you sign up.	pctek (84)
757379	2009-03-18 22:41:00	The ad on TV is run by money seeking parasites. I phoned IRD the other week, the gal on the phone checked my taxes for the last 5 years while I waited in the phone, and I got a $1,400 refund within 3 days :)	Zippity (58)
