855786 2010-02-06 06:39:00 Son says the PC shuts off after a while.
It IS really hot in his place and it doesn't do this straight away. But he tried a fan on it with the side off and that didn't help.
Then again, moving more hot air into it?

I suspected fluff as it's usually filthy but he says he cleaned it all out. I had also de-fluffed it last in November.

His graphics card at that time was making a hell of a noise, it was the fan on it.
It now doesn't and the fan is still spinning. He won't RMA the card cause CL said they'd charge him if it is OK.

He said it does this when playing games, but not old Amiga games (which I said cause the real old ones aren't using 3D). It also does it when watching movies after a while he says.

He has not swapped the card out as the only one available is a non-gaming card.
I don't have a spare gaming capable card for him to test.

It's an AMD CPU, socket 939 I think from memory.
2GB DDR400.

ATI 4830.

855788 2010-02-06 07:46:00 Power supply can sometimes behave like that. mikebartnz (21)
855789 2010-02-06 07:49:00 Could be the heat. My laptop was sluggish the other night, held it up to the aircon and away it went fast as. A good experiment, but can't see myself doing that all the time!
