| 756987 | 2009-03-17 00:58:00 | That is very true......during 'the war' with rationing we used to live a lot on bread and dripping, toast and dripping, suet puddings, roly poly pudding (thefoody.com), suet and lard were a mainstay :), but we didn't get fat. Just look at old school photos going back to the 30s and 40s, there were no fat children. There were no fat kids when I was at school. At least not in the 'working class' schools I went to. To those who claim they cannot lose weight and it's not their fault, the answer to that is there were no fat people in Auschwitz ! Taking this one step (or twelve) further, can any one provide proof that the Pressf1 forum is responsible for obesity? |

I've travelled to the US several times in recent years and my hosts have taken me out to a variety of 'average' medium to fast food restaurants, where I've seen this stuff being sucked down by monstrous mothers and fathers accompanied by equally monstrous kids, the whole lot being washed down with gigantic Cokes etc. My host's wife and I would share one meal between us and still leave enough untouched food on the plate to keep a homeless family alive! I was at the Kennedy Space Centre one day and a guy got on the bus and it kneeled. No, it wasn't making it easy for him to get in, he went up the stairs sideways (too fat for the door front-on) and the suspension cringed. We live in such a nice place that we can't help but get out and get fit. :p Even I've been riding to work the last few weeks, very fresh start to the day. Filled the car up in Christchurch weekend before last, haven't put any petrol in it since. Almost 700km. :D I feel very environmentally aware right now. :rolleyes: |
