Try reading forums, where people who do get the ones from their ISP's

Including this forum

And I know a few mates, who have had modems (provided by their ISP's), who also say theyre crap. And replaced them

If I owned a shop or made them, then I would know more. BUT, I dont

756111 2009-03-14 04:25:00 I dont really care what a modem or whatever does.

If it works, (and its got what I want), thats good enough for me

If I had to own a shop, to know how things work, then I would still be trying to figure out how to build my own computer

756112 2009-03-14 04:32:00 A lot of people hate dlink, but I quite like their DSL-502T router for people who don't need any extra features. I tend to go with Linksys for wireless stuff.

I don't like the design of the web interface on dynalink routers, but they seem to be reliable enough. I advise everyone to avoid Thompson like the plague - they are the free ones telecom gives out now & I've had nothing but trouble with them.

There shouldn't be any problems using ADSL2+ routers on an ADSL1 line. The only problems I have struck have been using very old routers (from when Jetstream was first introduced) on an ADSL2+ line.
