2009-03-20 01:16:00 | To be honest it seemed a lot more 'trashy' than the few brief segments Ive seen of the American one over the years (14 seasons aparrently?). That said, it's not really my cup of tea and I didnt watch any of the NZ one aside from seeing it occasionally on the Ads. Is it really worth taking an hour outta my life for? :D

That would make it an AO show which would screen outside of prime time so that isn't going to happen! :) Andrew do you really know where the birds are going?Yes. Come one mate spill the beans is it Terra Del Fuego? No it's not. What has been said so far about this? I'm not sure what is in the public domain yet...... |

2009-03-20 03:34:00 | I am constantly surprised at the mindless and meaningless drivel that is broadcast for the populace to watch. I am even more surprised that people think that this contrived crap has any merit at all. We have a succession of programs of this ilk, which treat the contestants as vacuous cretins and the public as brain dead morons. The scary thing is, with the showing of these programs, that is exactly what is happening!! HH

2009-03-20 03:53:00 | A valid point Harry. When researchers ask the populace what they want to watch, 90% of respondents say 'nature programmes' and such educational things. However, when the ratings come in, 95% of the population didn't watch the nature show. Which says two things: 1) the respondents to the survey is made up of mostly the 5% of the population that do watch such shows, or the respondents gave answers they thought they should give, and 2) people use TV to escape 'reality' : much like immersing yourself in a book, computer game or going to the movies. It is escapism. And calling such shows 'reality shows' is Orwellian double-speak : I don't know any such realities that exist that we see in these shows.....I agree it is trash TV but the daily ratings show the TV watching population lap it up! :groan: Cheers Andrew

2009-03-20 04:26:00 | NZs next top model ok anything with beautiful chicks and sexy clothing pushes my button. I guess I am in the mindless drivel liking category. Thats why Sledge Hammer and Dukes of Hazard were my fav programs. If I had a choice of a nature program say like Richard Attenborough describing the habits of a Madagascan swallow tailed wombat or a program with near naked chicks in it well the chicks are going to win hands down.
