756514 2009-03-15 00:55:00 I'm sure I'm not the only one sick and tired of doing the supermarket shopping, getting to the checkout and being asked "Have you got your Flybuys?", "Have you got your OneCard?" etc etc.

I got so sick of being asked for it every time without fail that I gave in and went and got the cards purely so I don't have to put up with being asked every time :)

I don't mind the Flybuys so much. I'm about to claim a reward this week (maybe a new toaster, lucky me:)). Although I do realise the rewards are all factored into the pricing somewhat. I admit going to Shell rather than the others because when the petrol's the same price everywhere, then I may as well rack up a couple of flybuy points for my trouble.

But Woolworth's Onecard system is nothing but annoying and I tend to avoid that supermarket now for that reason.
Despite spending a small fortune in there over the years, I hardly recall ever being 'gifted' with a reward.

Don't dare forget to take your Onecard into the store, because they won't give you the advertised discounts (even if you apologise for forgetting your card). If you're doing a big shop, this can amount to 10-20 dollars off the total cost. I expect there have been many unsuspecting customers who have filled their trolley with 'discount' items, walked away from the checkout never realizing that they didn't end up receiving those discounts. It pretty much amounts to dual pricing - pretty sneaky if you ask me.

The first time this happened to me, I had a trolley load of stuff. I committed the crime of not having my magic Onecard on me but explaining kindly to the checkout assistant that I'd left it at home. I made the mistake of assuming that they'd given me the store discounts anyway (which they used to do by default). After paying, I checked the receipt, realised I'd been diddled and went to the customer service desk to have it out with them.
I don't think being a loyal, regular customer made alot of difference to them. In the end I got a full refund, left the trolley and walked over the road to New World.

Having checked the prices in New World, it appears to me that the Onecard 'discounts' are nothing but discounts off over-inflated prices.

On the odd occasion I do have to make a trip into Woolworths, I've noticed they will always charge you the extra price if you don't have your Onecard (and they don't always ask for it either).

IMHO - Woolworths should get rid of their Onecard and stop ripping off unsuspecting customers with their dual-pricing.

756516 2009-03-15 01:01:00 The point in getting / using in the onecard, is to get discounts, You dont have it / use it, then you get no discounts.

Doesnt matter if youre a loyal customer or not

They ask the same thing down the road @ foodtown. We usually use it. Cant go anywhere else, since we dont drive. And there's no other supermarkets around here.

They do send you vouchers every so often, theyre good enough for us. Saves us a bit sometimes

If a person is looking for discounted items, then they find them, Hell my better half is ALWAYS getting good discounts - WHY ? because she looks at the prices to start with, not just grabs the first item on the shelf.

The poll is very one sided with hardly any options- apart from negative ones and only 1 positive.

When we use the Onecard, we always get good discounts by carefully looking at whats being brought and comparing prices, you make sure if you are wanting to use it to get discounts you have the card with you - not exactly rocket science.

We regularly get discount vouchers also.

756518 2009-03-15 01:20:00 It does SAY on whatever it is, if you use your Onecard, (It even shows a pic of one), it'll be discounted.

So, if people cant read, then they've only got themselves to blame

756519 2009-03-15 01:42:00 I simply avoid places with schemes like this, and supermarkets entirely unless its for beer or meat, at which time I'm almost guaranteed to be thirsty and hungry so not interested in the price. Metla (12)

Yes - but why have dual pricing?
And the 'discounts' aren't discounts. It's more like a penalty if you don't have the card.
It's a supermarket. It's supposed to be a convenience store. That means it's supposed to be convenient.
Dual pricing and carrying all the extra cards around can be highly inconvenient - especially if you've shopped for the discounts, get to the checkout and forget the damn thing (or don't get asked for it and get charged extra anyway).

756521 2009-03-15 01:57:00 Well if you dont like it, dont go there, or complain / tell management there it sucks.

Noone's forcing you to go there
