Just read a Dick Smith mailout that has appeared with the rest of the junk. I was just wondering if there is any hidden significance in the phrase "wireless capable" that it has attached to three printers. A few years ago we bought a Brother MF Printer that was advertised as "Wireless Network ready" and it was exactly that - a breeze to set up. So, are the two phrases equivalent and if not what's the difference?

Thanks

PS - Mods - you think this should have been on "Chat" move it there (I know you will anyway;))

855130 2010-02-04 02:41:00 I think you can make a wired printer wireless, with a print server as explained here... (www.labnol.org) kahawai chaser (3545)

Now you've confused me!! How have you done that?

You do the same as what you would do with a USB / non-wireless printer. Share it, then add it from the other PC's

855132 2010-02-04 02:50:00 Thanks for that kahawai chaser.

I was just trying to make sure if one of these "wireless capable" printers would be easily "attachable" to an established wireless network without having to buy extra bits and pieces.

Thanks Speedy Without going thru another PC etc
Bsically at home here we've got 2 laptops and the brother printer going thru the wireless modem/router independent of whether either computer is turned on

Maybe I'm not quite understanding this

855133 2010-02-04 02:57:00 Well you still have to add it to print to it from another computer. Or else the pc you want to print from wont know it exists Speedy Gonzales (78)
