| 854882 | 2010-02-03 04:22:00 | Today I tried to turn on my computer and it made a really long and loud beeping sound and would not turn off without killing the power. I recently removed one stick of RAM, could this have cause the beeping sound? | icow (15313) | ||

Sometimes, the design of it allows it to only use RAM from a stick that is in a certain slot (usually the first slot) If you were to remove the stick from the first slot, but leave a stick in the second slot, the computer would still not work because it's looking for RAM in the first slot to use as shared video RAM, and can't find any. And a video card can't work without RAM. (However without knowing exactly which motherboard you have, I can't know if this would be true in your case, though it might be worth a try) |
