| 854748 | 2010-02-02 22:56:00 | Ok, so I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium after being on XP since I was 13 (I'm 22 now) and XP being on this, my custom built computer for about 4 years. Now I'm running in to some ... problems.. let me try to be descriptive. I have been playing Fallout 3 with an entire DLC pack that was ... illbegotten. As well as my copy of Windows, but it says its Genuine now, muahha... inb4 pirates are bad, gtfo thief etc.. It worked and ran like a charm on XP. no glitches except an occasional crash when downsizing .. Now on Windows 7, not only does my audio sound like its skipping or scratching even with updated drivers. (any thoughts on this?) I have the DLC pack I'm trying to install and any time I right click the setup exe, or even try to single left click and hit enter. it jams up that whole directory of where it is. the Explorer.exe until I restart my pc... now after about 6 attempts and furious clicking. I shut the pc down but as it was shutting down it said something like Too many 16-bit programs are in use, close more so this can work or something like that thoughts? will provide tits in return for good advice (jk, I'm a /b/tard at heart :D) |

The mobo's site or windowsupdate??? Is it 32 or 64 bit?? Because 16 bit programs (I think) dont work in 64 bit |

Because 16 bit programs (I think) dont work in 64 bit well its 32 bit, and as we speak i am trying to delete the faulty DLC exe that worked under XP but not now, as its jamming EVERYTHING up, and I even got a random BSOD from this Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6 . 1 . 7600 . 2 . 0 . 0 . 768 . 3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 124 BCP1: 00000000 BCP2: 85E33024 BCP3: B2000000 BCP4: 00070F0F OS Version: 6_1_7600 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 768_1 Now granted that may be because my SATA drive that's running as just a backup drive, with no pagefile or OS, the SMART went bad on it it's already remapped about 765 sectors out of the usual 1000, I know I need to replace that drive . . . But it just seems that ever since I went to 7, everything seems slower . . . can 32-bit OS handle 4gb ram or is that 64bit? Any more thoughts on this matter would be great . . that DLC for Fallout 3 exe, is just . . wow, i mean it doesn't wanna let me do anything with it for awhile . . but it NEVER did it on XP, and its not the first time I've found a program that does this kind of weird behavior . |

| 854751 | 2010-02-02 23:22:00 | Also, as far as drivers, I downloaded the graphics card, sound card, and network drivers as soon as Windows was done installing, SOMEHOW, i had internet access, i guess windows 7 comes with network drivers ? But after I installed sound drivers from the manu. website, sound was all bugging... so I went to device manager and hit Update Drivers, and ms went online and apparently found newer drivers that weren't even on the manufacturer's website... still have bugging sound. Here are my specs for my box MSI K8NGM2 Motherboard 2gb 333mhz Corsair ValueSelect Ram (I think I have Dual Channel on) AMD Athlon X2 64 4200+ 2.2ghz NVIDIA 7600GT on PCI-E 1.0 Main HD is a 300gb ITE ATA Drive by WD spare drives are a 20GB Quantum Fireball (5gb page file, no Page on my main HD) 250GB SATA II Western Digital that's going faulty. Sound Card is a Soundblaster Audigy SE 7.1 Channel |

Does it crash when playing fallout only, or anytime youre in windows? Have you updated windows through windowsupdate? Since its been installed? I never had to worry about onboard sound on XP, so what is the max ram 32 bit can hold, you say if I want more than 4gb i need 64 bit. but can I hold 4GB even? Yes I've been running Windows Update, I'm up to date now. I never had to worry about disabling onboard sound in the BIOS and would have no idea on how to actually do that. Do I have to now that I'm on 7 instead of XP? |
