758068 2009-03-20 08:10:00 I pointed mine into the sun for a photo the other day, but afterwards wondered if it is possible to damage the camera that way ssssss (2100)
758069 2009-03-20 08:14:00 Only if your eye is on the other side of the viewfinder :( Zippity (58)

That is not really how daylight saving should be done ;)

758072 2009-03-20 10:32:00 yes, pointing it at the sun will damage the sensor, just like it will to your eye if you look directly at it. My canon camera instructions also warn against not pointing it at the sun, due to damage. robbyp (2751)
758073 2009-03-20 10:40:00 Thanks robbyp.
That is interesting.
When I got my Sony camera 5 years ago, I did read the instructions and saw no mention of that!

758074 2009-03-20 10:42:00 I really don't think digital cameras have a say as to where they are pointed.

My camera does not complain about where I point it.

I do hear that doing that into the sun may damage the camera.

Pointing a camera at a young lady for any length of time could seriously damage your health though, especially if her boyfriend, or your partner happens to be in the immediate vicinity.
