856483 2010-02-09 02:10:00 No printers are showing when I open Devices and Printers. Click on add printer and get the following message "Windows can't open Add Printer. The local print spooler is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine".

Restarting the machine has no effect.

Searched under services and found that the print spooler is missing.

Ran the solution on Microsoft Fix It support.microsoft.com and got no resolution.

To access the diagnostics built into your computer:

* Click Start, Control Panel
* In the Control Panel, click System and Security
* In the System and Security window, under Action Center, click Troubleshoot common computer problems
* In the Troubleshoot computer problems window, click a specific task to automatically diagnose and fix a problem. To view more troubleshooters, click a category.

You cant start it if it isnt there Bob

856486 2010-02-09 02:46:00 Is it 32 or 64 bit?? Looks like it can go missing if something in the registry is corrupt. If you go to start/run and type msconfig, then go to the services tab, does print spooler appear here, and is it ticked? Have you scanned for malware, since malware can delete / wipe this service? And is this a legit version of Windows 7? Because the same thing can happen in XP. And this can happen, if you've downloaded a stripped down version via P2P. Speedy Gonzales (78)
