There is a term for it, and i can't damn well remember it

basically for some gallerys and feedbackforms when you click on a thumbnail the page fades/greys out and the enlarged image is shown. as i can't remember the term i can't search for it easily.

Anyhelp would be appreciated

It is called Lightbox... It has many different clones but this one is the most popular one and with good documentation.
Lightbox2 (www.huddletogether.com)

856178 2010-02-08 00:07:00 Yep, babip got it in one. There's a big list of the popular lightbox scripts at the moment over at del.icio.us (delicious.com). Depending on the complexity of what you're trying to achieve, a light and simple image one I can recommend is Lighter Box 2 (www.tdesignonline.com) (only 14kB, when they usually sit around 200kB). sal (67)

856180 2010-02-08 06:07:00 Personally I find that method of displaying images to be quite annoying.

I have been to websites where the image is very large, won't fit on the monitor yet the code is stupid enough to try to center it constantly, so any attempt to scroll the page result in it jumping back to the middle again
