856516 2010-02-09 20:23:00 See if they have any printers you can connect to.

One network I found once (when I wasn't feeling malicious) I set their printer to print 100 copies of 'How to secure your wireless network' for the model of the router they were using ;)

be careful, not that long ago a helpful neighbor was prosecuted for doing exactly that, it was classed as 'hacking'

856520 2010-02-09 21:24:00 Netstumbler may tell you?? Altho, by the looks of it, this hasn't been updated since 2004. And wont work properly with Vista / Win 7 / x64. But this may work (www.metageek.net). Its also free. And does exactly what Netstumbler did. But its more up to date Speedy Gonzales (78)
856521 2010-02-09 22:36:00 I also may have accidentally set a 80gb hard drive full of pr0n to format itself... but that might have been a dream ;)

I wondered what happened to that

856522 2010-02-09 23:48:00 A little while ago I stayed at my mates flat and found a school that had an unsecured network, although it wasn't giving out IPs. I set my laptop with a static IP (192.168.1.xxx, 99% of people would try this range first) and it worked :) given that I was pretty far out the connection was #$%& but i could still get on the internet and browse some shared files on a mac :)

I emailed the school the next day to tell them but never heard back, ah well. Useless IT people.

856523 2010-02-10 00:01:00 I believe there is some way of using tools like netstumbler with GPS unit to determine locations of APs? Agent_24 (57)
