757850 2009-03-19 23:33:00 Personally - I will try something,like IE8 - if I like it - I use it, if I dont I wont.

I used to use FF but some of their latest versions I dont like - so I dont use it much. Just like some of the other browsers - tried - didn't like, dont use.

Every one has a choice of what they use or dont use - whats the problem.

Many people simply "follow the crowd" - by saying something is Crap with no real reason why - if you ask them why something is crap most cant answer or say - because it is- and thats not an answer.

The AV's -- wont go hijacking the thread, thats another thread (again)

757851 2009-03-19 23:36:00 Of course I have used it/tried it.

What do you take me for? Do you think I would pass judgment without?

757852 2009-03-19 23:37:00 Downloaded IE8. The web site I put together seems to not display navigation bars but works happily under IE7 and also FF3

I also have Win7 Beta and the same thing happens when using Publisher and doing a web site preview with IE there too.

Downloaded IE8 this morning and it did not work on WinXP64 bit on several sites from www.nzcity.co.nz. IE8 just stopped working and send error report after which IE8 recovered but no solution was offered. Tried IE8 in compatability mode for the sites on www.nzcity.co.nz with a similar result.

Out of interest - why do you say its crap. (Not being smart - just asking what has made you come to that conclusion)

For example - I mentioned before used to use FF - but dont now because lots of the plugins and themes I used all the time dont work on the newer versions, and no replacements were available.

757854 2009-03-20 00:22:00 Got IE8 going. When installing it I turned off that survey thingy this time and everything works fine.

757855 2009-03-20 00:37:00 Just installed IE8 on a workshop XP Hm PC- went straight in, no problems, no crashes.

Even PCworld's Ad filled pages loaded in a flash, thats on the default IE8 settings.

Sweep-- I just tried the nzcity site linked and they loaded in a flash, with no problems.

What is interesting I saw is there are two different downloads for IE8 One for Vista, one for XP. The Vista is 13,618KB and XP 16,488KB.

Edited: Just added in Spell Check

757856 2009-03-20 02:06:00 Still have problems of it locking. When I try too close a second tab it locks up. I'm operating it the same way as I did IE7.
