| 856290 | 2010-02-08 09:11:00 | It looks like this is a common prob (according to the MS forums), with Win7. It stops and starts often. And it can get annoying! You'll notice this, (if you've got speakers or something), because you'll hear the disconnecting / connecting sound (like every 2 secs) ! It happened here (about 20 mins ago). One strange thing, I did notice (the wireless mouse batteries went flat), so I recharged the batteries for about 1/2 an hr. Then plugged in a normal USB mouse (and it stopped and started / froze constantly), for like 15 mins. The entry for the wireless mouse was still in device manager. But, when I unplugged the wired mouse and put the batteries back in the wireless mouse, it hasnt frozen since?? It was like the 2 were conflicting or something. Is this possible? Cant say I've ever heard of 2 USB devices conflicting (even if one doesnt have batteries in it,), and I'm not using it |

| 856293 | 2010-02-08 09:16:00 | USB devices dont have I/O 's or IRQ's. So cant conflict. (like other hardware (modems etc). This prob has only just started (tonight). Since its been installed, this has never happened till now. It doesnt affect anything else but the mouse. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||

| 856295 | 2010-02-08 09:29:00 | Thats a good question. The wireless kb and mouse, I'm using are logitech. Its quite possible (altho it hasnt happened before now either), that I may have to install Setpoint. This will let you "lock out" others who may have a similar wireless kb and mouse around you. Only prob with this, is the other PC here also uses a wireless logitech kb and mouse (but a different model). Last time I tried Setpoint, (on this), my flatmate couldnt use her keyboard lol. So, I had to remove Setpoint to fix it The wired mouse gets detected as a KME mouse or something (in Win7). Only thing is, I've used the same wired mouse before (when this mouse goes flat), till its fully recharged. With no probs at all |

I bought a cheap Logitech mouse from QMB once, it worked fine for a day and then started disconnecting, reconnecting, Windows was making the "device failed" sound, eventually it stopped working completely. I went back and got a replacement, exact same thing happened. Then I went and bought a better mouse (A4 Tech) from Dick Smith and it worked perfectly, still going years later. |
