760695	2009-03-30 04:21:00	my dad needs some basic computer training....... anyone want to earn some $$ ?? I am stuck in wgtn and only get down three times a year. looking for someone who can teach the basics. he need skills in file /folder managment. he is interested in photo editing but has no skills. hoping I can find someone to give 1 hour sessions a week for a few months. must be able to teach older people (he's 65+)	robsonde (120)

760699	2009-03-30 06:48:00	Is there a SeniorNet branch down there? he found some kind of "old people teaching class", the class system was not so good, the class shows you the steps for advanced things but he needs some more of the basics. an intro to photoshop is cool, but he has problems with understanding files and folders. he needs some one-on-one before he can keep up with the group. one of his big problems is he tried to learn a few things by rote, but then if the icons are not in the same place he is lost. I can only give him a few hours per year when I get down south. he needs a good run of a few hours a month till he gets the basics. then I can start to support him over the phone more. he comes from an engineering background, if he can't see the moving parts then he can't understand how a thing works. if a mechanical thing starts acting odd, then he looks inside to see the bits moving. but you can't do that with a computer....	robsonde (120)

Very good reply there BobM. I checked as to whether or not there was a SeniorNet in Blenheim but the SeniorNet Web Site does not list it. Much like it does not list my local one either. Robsonde. SeniorNet some time back used to teach seniors the Basics. You needed Works back then. Then you also had to think about what O/S for file management. You can still get real basic courses but I doubt very much that he will get lessons in Photoshop from the same source. You might consider installing a remote software application and doing the lessons yourself over the phone assuming you are both on broadband.	Sweep (90)
