857026 2010-02-10 21:44:00 I am needing to purchase a new printer, multi function, preferably seperate ink tanks and up to $150.00. Any feedback or user experience would be appreciated. rny (6943)
857027 2010-02-10 21:52:00 I would avoid Lexmark and Brother.

I would choose either HP or Canon.

857028 2010-02-10 22:31:00 Thanks pctek, a search of previous topics would tend to support your suggestions. Most Canon's though, seem to have a multi colour cartridge. rny (6943)
857029 2010-02-10 22:33:00 Why avoid Lexmark. I have been using one for 4 or 5 years with no problems, although the ink dosen't last long if you do alot of printing, and the ink cartridges are rather expensive about $50 each as they have the print head in them.
:)

I used to be in the printer repair industry. I would also recommend that Lexmark be avoided.
I dont like the HP MFC software either.

So Then that leaves Canon..
-or Brother, very cheap.

857032 2010-02-10 23:55:00 I would only buy a Canon at this point. Though I have a dislike for all ink-jet based MFC's. razzarphenix (2626)

All I can say is that I have a Brother mfc 7820n working now for 5 years without any problems. Just lucky? :)

857035 2010-02-11 01:21:00 Trev and notechyet:

Basing your experience on one or two you have owned is not a good test of reliabilty.

Take a look at reliabilty/problems over a few hundred and then see.

They are like Acers.
