759510 2009-03-28 21:14:00 We turn off all computers and Tv's at night anyway. We don't have anything on standby except the video player, yes we still have and use one of those ancient machines regularly. It's got less to do with saving power and more to do with generating less heat in the house as this is a very warm house. gary67 (56)
759511 2009-03-29 09:18:00 Just tokenism - after the so called Earth Hour, it will be back to wasteful use of energy as usual.
Empty Government offices lit up like Christmas Trees all night every night, and not to be outdone businesses following suit. All these organisations pass the cost on.
As one of the vast majority of householders who have to pay their energy costs out of a limited amount of revenue each month, I make a practice of not wasting my money paying for energy I don't need .
I left my lights on during Earth Hour, because I don't think Earth hour changed anything.

759513 2009-03-30 06:58:00 The day after Earth Hour, I get a letter from Genesis Energy saying: "Your electricity prices are changing".

No prizes for guessing which way, up or down, they are going.

Go figure.

759514 2009-03-31 03:05:00 Just for those that want the actual figures rather than a wild guess. This at five minute intervals as to what power is being used in each zone.

759515 2009-03-31 04:46:00 Who's guessing?

That's current data which isn't much use if you're interested in what happened last weekend.

For (recent) historical data go to:

759517 2009-03-31 05:05:00 I probably sounded a bit combative.

http://www.systemoperator.co.nz is great for realtime stuff.

www.electricityinfo.co.nz gets data from the SO and archives it.

Both are useful.
