759831 2009-03-29 05:03:00 Because Office 2007 supports features OpenOffice doesn't. :p pcuser42 (130)
759832 2009-03-29 05:07:00 Well I've still got Office 2000 and haven't found any reason to change it.

What do the later versions do that 2000 doesn't?

759833 2009-03-29 05:09:00 Mine was free, but $20.00 postage.

Microsoft runs a programme (can't quite recall the name of it) where for every license of Office 2007 a company buys, then the company can offer a home user license.

Mmm - so you got it for $20 all up.

Require you to activate :p

Plus, Office 2007 has a much better interface, and new, smaller, file formats.

That's the Home Use Programme, which is where I got mine from too.

759836 2009-04-04 09:22:00 I use Microsoft word for Mac 2008 and Open Office. :) PiscesKiwi (7911)
759837 2009-04-04 23:00:00 Office 2003, Google Docs, Wordperfect Office 2000, or OpenOffice depending on what I feel like at the time and what computer I'm on Agent_24 (57)
759838 2009-04-04 23:08:00 If I fire up the Wang PC, it runs(?) First Choice.

I expect that would be fairly quick on a modern system. ;)

759839 2009-04-05 03:46:00 OK, I need to change my vote (for 2003) now: just upgraded to 2007 .

Quite impressed, but doesn't do a lot more than 2003 .

Main differences in functionality on first play were in Outlook (auto-configuration of email setup - mostly) and Excel (over a million rows, rather than the 65000 in previous versions) .

This latter aspect was the clincher for my upgrade decision, since I have just received some data extracts to analyse for a client that contain somewhat more than 1,000,000 rows .

Access still has the upper limit of 2GB for DB size . :( - luckily, I can also import the extracts to SQL Server 2005 .

759840 2009-04-05 05:22:00 Mostly Office 2003, use 2007 at uni though. I also have got a student licence for 2007 Pro just need to find the time to set up the system its supposed to be going on.

Occasionally make use of Open Office when using one of my Linux environments.
