| 760425 | 2009-03-29 06:03:00 | I'm planning on setting up a garden shed approx 2m from the house, on a wooden floor . I want to connect power to it (1 hot point) and I just want to know what the rules would be . I know if it's a permanent building that the cables going to it have to be buried 600mm under ground and be brought up in the foundation, or in conduit up the side of the building . Since this building is kind of 'temporary' (ie wooden floor, not concrete slab) does that change anything, or do I still have to dig? |

If that's the case, the garden shed may not be high enough (or at least the cable sagging in the middle would be too low). |

| 760434 | 2009-03-29 08:07:00 | Don't know where you live & don't know what your local Electric people want. Measure to under your soffit. Put a short "Pole" on the shed, 3 x 2, 75mm x 50mm, to the same height. Screw a large hook at each end. Run a piece of steel wire, tight, between them. Cable tie your power cable to this. I doubt if it is neccesary to earth this short length of wire. If it is then find some insulated No8 guage fencing wire. Or run the power cable thro pvc hose & cable tie that. How are you going to connect at either end? PJ |
