| 858161 | 2010-02-14 00:45:00 | I am currently running Windows 7 RC (with XP on a separate partition), and since it starts shutting down bi-hourly in March, I think it's about time to upgrade to the retail version. It would save me a lot of hassle if I could simply do an upgrade installation, which according to this (blogs.zdnet.com) article I read, would be possible to do if I bought Windows 7 Ultimate. But since Ultimate is like $200 more than Home Premium and has nothing extra that I would ever use, I'm in a bit of a dilemma about what to do. Do I really have to pay $200 dollars extra just to do an upgrade installation? Does anyone know of another way? I have spent a lot of time customizing Windows and Media Center, and I really wanted to avoid doing a clean install and having to start from scratch. |

| 858168 | 2010-02-15 10:05:00 | Well you spent the time customising what you currently use. Do it again and it will take less time maybe. Do you still want to keep XP? |

| 858169 | 2010-02-15 11:03:00 | I bought the retail box of Win 7 Ultimate off eBay for NZ$265, from an Australian seller. | xmojo1 (4630) | ||
| 858170 | 2010-02-15 17:16:00 | I would recommend a clean install. I agree. I do a clean install of mine and so far its been running like a shot wabbit. All previous OS has been slow sometimes crash. Win7 is fast to start up is more fun and fast to search for files from the start menu....:D:D |
